Due Monday, 4/11/11, Eng 1301

1. Read pages 673-684 "Commas." Type a list
of the different uses of a comma as explained
in the textbook. For each use, type an example.

2. Go over the classification notes from class.
Prepare an outline on this Topic: people. Use this
Principle of Classification: The way they dance.
You do NOT type a essay; just think about the
topic and prepare an outline. Remember that you
must have at least three distinctive groups; the
groups cannot overlap; and the groups must be
orginal. In other words, you cannot write about
country dancers, hip hop dancers, and ballroom dancers.
Remember that in the last blog,I mentioned pages in
the text that explain and give an example of
classification. Just simply see the previous blog.

Engl 1301: Due Wednesday, 4/06/11

1. Continue to develop the prewriting method of
+, neutral, - that we began in class. Have at least
four plus items and four minus items. Don't think
of this as just an assignment but as a proposal that
you can promote or as a proposal that you can argue
against. If you would rather use another thesis
sentence, use this: "New mothers should give
authorities the name of the father or possible father
of the child." Write at least four pluses and four
minuses for this thesis sentence.

2. Read pages 228-229 "Bad Roommates." Note the three
types and the names given to the three types. These
are original, so they are described.

4. You copied five pairs of sentences from the PowerPoint
presentation.Combine those sentences using any of the
fifteen methods that we discussed. Each sentence must use
