DO NOT FORGET TO GIVE THE PAGE NUMBER FOR EACH EXERCISE
THAT YOU TYPE.
1. Read pages 135-137, "Practice Revising for Coherence."
Type the answers to these questions: 1. What is coherence?
and 2. What is transition? Type complete sentences.
2. On page 136, type the seven "Common Transitional Words
and Phrases" and after each of the seven, type two examples
for each.
3. On page 137 carefully read the essay and note the key
words and transitions that are underlined.
4. Read the revised essay on pages 141-143. Type the thesis
sentence and the three primary suppports in outline form.
Take special notice of the opening and the closing paragraphs.
5. Read "Commas in Compound Sentences" on page 676. Type
three original compound sentences about one of these:
a dangerous situation or a funny situation or a stupid
situation that you were in (besides this class).
6. Read "The Sentence Has a Compound Subject" on page 443.
Type Practice 6 by typing the sentenvce number AND the verb
for each sentence. You do not have to type the complete
sentence.
