1. Look up and type the meanings of these words:
all right and alright; patience and patients;
already and all ready; done, as in "I'm done studying;"
cannot and can not; may be and maybe; infer and imply;
and etc.; nowdays; anyway and anyways; any where and
any wheres.
2. Read "Make Pronoun Reference Clear" on page 502-507.
On page 507, complete Practice 6 by typing only the
sentence number and only any needed corrections in pronouns
Do not retype the entire sentence.
3. Review Parallelism.

Assgnment #5
1. Using the plus-neutral-minus format to brainstorm,
draw the 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 format and brainstorm this thesis
sentence: All citizens should belong to a religious
organization. Do not read into the thesis anything that
it does not say. Don't say "People may not want to"
because "want to" is not a part of the thesis sentence.
In the Plus column you write positive actions that could
occur. In the Minus column you write negative that could
occur. In the Neutral column you write things that could
occur but are not positive nor negative. Have at least six
solid items in the Plus column and at least six in the Minus
column. This is NOT a silly assignment, so I want no silly
answers. Type this.It may be Portrait or Landscape.

2. You will have a multiple choice test on Parallelism. Study
your book and your notes. Bring a blue Scan sheeet.

3. Review the Intro paragraphs that we studied and also review
the closing paragraphs. Rely on the information on the
PowerPoint and in the text.

Due Monday 10/24/11 or Tuesday 10/25/11

1. Using your response from Smarthinking, prepare
the FINAL copy of your Narrative to hand in.
2. Hand in in this order: outline, final copy, draft
with corrections, and paper as returned to you by
SmarThinking. You should have four items.

2. Read "Parallelism" in your textbook on pages 553-
557. Be able to exampin what Parallelism means.

Due Wednesday 10/19/11 and Thursday 10/20/11

1. Complete the typing of your narrative. Type an
essay consisting of 450-600 words. I have increased
the maximum word count by request.

2. Save the narrative on a flash drive and
BRING THE FLASH DRIVE TO CLASS. If you do not have
a flash drive, see me immediately.

3. Print a copy of the draft and mark any errors or
changes on the draft. The value of this correctioned
draft is five points. Use this corrected draft to prepare
the final copy. Remember to save your final copy on a
flash drive so that you can bring it to class.

4. Hand in your essay in this order: Outline, Final copy,
corrected draft. The essay is due on Wednesday or Thursday.
