Assignment DUE on Tuesday, 1/29

1. Using the outline that your developed based on "Me,"
write an essay from 450 - 550 words in length. Base your
introductory paragraph on one of the models on pages
90 - 92 and base your closing paragraph on one of the
models on pages 93 - 95. PROCESS: 1. Type a draft of
the esssay and print a copy. 2. Save the draft. 3. Make
any corrections on the PRINTED COPY. 4. Transfer the
corrections to the computer. 5. Print a final copy.
6. Hand in your papers stapled in this order: Outline,
Final Copy,Draft with corrections.
2. Learn the class notes.

1. Bring the Final Copy of the interview to class.
2. Read pages 4 through 12 and complete the
exercises by writing the answers IN THE BOOK.
3. Complete the brainstorm on "Me."
4.Prepare a thesis sentence on "Me."
5. Have at least three roman numerals and
at least two details for each roman numeral.
Outline only; do not write the peper.

Spring Semester 2008: Tuesday, 1/22/08

1. Prepare the draft of the inteview.
Be sure that it complies with the assignment sheet.

Engl 1301 for Thursday, May 3: Editing Tests 9 and Editing Test 10

Complete Editing Test 9 on page 562. Notice that all the sentences are numbered. Type the items in the retangular box at the top of the editing test and, after each type of mistake, type the number of the sentence that contains that mistake. For example: fragment __15___.

Complete Editing Test 10 on page 563. The sentences are numbered, but the mistakes are different from Editing Test 9. Type the items in the retangular box at the top of the editing test and, after each type of mistake, type the number of the sentence that contains that mistake.

These two together will count as one test grade. Thursday, May 3, is our last class day.

Engl 1301 for Thursday, April 19

(1) I have applications for the $500 Donna Calvert Scholarship. The deadlilne for submission is THIS FRIDAY AT NOON. The complete application will be turned in to me. See me if you want an application.
(2) Complete Editing Test 1 on page 554. Type ten blanks and in each blank write the NUMBER of the sentence that has a fragment or a run-on.
(3) Complete Editing Test 3 on page 556. Type ten blanks and in each blank enter the letter letter which identifies the error of the underlined words. In other words, just follow the instructions in the text except that you will type the answers instead of writing them in the book.

(1) Read text pages 711 "In Praise of the F Word."
(2) Write a 150 word paragraph using this topic sentence: There are ways to encourage students to learn in the classroom. Prepare a brainstorm,
prepare an outline with your topic sentence and at least three supports and details for each support. Type a draft, print the draft, revise the draft by writing on the printed copy, and prepare a final copy. Hand all of these in. This is a graded assignment.

This is similar to the grammar test we will take. You will have some idea of which sections of grammar to study in the book. Do not enter my email at the end of the test; I don't need to see this one.
