1. You should have turned in your "Worst Teacher" essay
last week. If you did not, then turn it in late today.

2. Turn in your Narrative essay to SmarThinking. When
the essay is returned to you, immediately make
any suggested corrections. Turn it in Thursday, 3/01/12.

3. YOUR FIRST MISCELLANEOUS WRITING IS DUE ON THURSDAY,
3/01/12. READ THE ASSIGNMENT SHEET CAREFULLY. The sheet
explains the assignment.

Due 2/23/12

1. As we discussed in class,outline the Worst Teacher
essay. Use the SmarThinking reply to finalize your paper.
Hand in these items: 1. the outline, 2. the final copy,3. the
reply from SmarThinking, and any prewriting.

2. Hand in the outline for your narrative. The instructions
are printed on the handout.

Due Tuesday 2/21/02, Engl 1301

1. By Sunday you will have received your reply
from SmarThinking. Revise your paper to reflect
their suggestions. The sooner you send
it in, the sooner you will receive it back. When
you do receive a reply, PRINT the reply and bring
it to class along with your FINAL copy WITH CORRECTIONS.
IN ADDITION, BRING THE OUTLINE THAT YOU HAD ALREADY
BEEN ASSIGNMENT. [See the Blog for 2/16/2012.]

2. Read "Narration" on pages 147-155. Know the "FOUR
BASICS OF GOOD NARRATION" on p 147 [possible pop test].
Read "Main Point in Narration" and "Support in Narration"
on p 49.Read pages 152-154, including Common Time Transitions."

Due 2/16/2012

1. You have now written two versions of the Worst Teacher
paper. For Thursday, prepare a FORMAL OUTLINE of your
last revision.
2. Now, write an Introductory paragraph and a Closing paragraph.
Add these to the "Worst Teacher" paper that you have already written.
You should now have a complete essay on the topic "My Worst
Teacher."
3.Now go to D2L.On the right side, SMARTHINKING Login will be
on a list. Click on it and follow the directions. Electronically
sent your essay to them. Indicate what you want the tutor to look at.
4. In one to two days you will receive a reply; print it, and
bring it to class.

Due 2/09/2012--Engl 1301

1. Test on class notes and items covered from the textbook
and PowerPoint and discussed in class. From page 51, add to
the terms the three parts of the essay as indicated in blue
on the right margin.

2. Be able to recognize fragments and the type of fragments
starting on p 401:1.start with prepositions (listed on p 390);
2. dependent words (p 403-404); 3. -ing words (p 406);
4. to + verb (p 409); 5. startwith examples or exlanations (p 411).

2. Read Student Essays #1, #2, and #3 on pages 56-60.

Due Tuesday 2/07/12

LEARN THESE FOR THE TEST ON THURSDAY.
1. Study our discussions on Frangments. Refer to
the last two blogs for page numbers.
2. In class we studied several definitions: Summary
Analnsis, Synthesis, and Evalustion. Learn them
for the test on Thursday, 2/09/12, in addition to the
Fragments.
3. In Thursday's class, we discussed the propertities of
a Thesis Sentence. Learn them for the test. Also read
and define Paragraph Structure on page 49.
4. On pages 49 and 51, read and learn Essay Structure and
learn the three parts for the test. Very carefully read the
Sample Essay on page 50 and the Relationship Between
Paragraphs and Essays on page 51.
6. Know these, and you will pass the test. The test will
be part fill-in-the-blank, part T-F, part multiple choice.
