they do NOT SUPPORT the Thesis Statements.
2 Starting on page 635,explain the meaning of Vague and
Abstract Words and give one example and then correct it;
explain the meaning of Slang (p 637)and give one example
and then correct it; explain the meaning of Wordy Language
(p. 638) and give one example and then correct it; on page 640
explain the meaning of Cliche and then give one example and

and Evaluation.
4. Read "Paragraph Structure" on page 48. Know what a
paragraph is.
5. Read page 48 "Paragraph Structure." Write and type
a short paragraph of 150 to AROUND 200 words. This is your topic
sentence: ______ is the worst teacher that I have ever had.

practice 1, page 690, sentences 1-5, by typing the sentence
number and only the correction. Do NOT type the entire
sentence.
2. Read "Quotation Marks" on pages 696-701. On page 699,
Practice 1, type and correct sentences 1-3. Then, type two
original sentences that are direct quotations. When you finish,
turn the same sentences into INDIRECT quotations.
3. Read pages 712-717 "Capitalizations." Type Editing Review 1"
on page 718 by typing sentences 1 and 2 and correcting all errors.

All assignments are due at the BEGINNING of the period.
Assignments that are not complete will be considered late,
and late assignments are not accepted for credit. An
exception to this policy is graded assignments. These will
be accepted late with a minimum 10 point penalty. Some
assignments will be placed into the D2L Dropbox.
I will give you two(2) emergency excuses for late assignments,
but only two.
1. Type a complete draft of the interview you conducted last
class period and bring it to class. Also, bring the blue sheet
containing your interview notes.
Use the heading illustrated on the first day handout.
2. Bring your textbook to class every day. Also be prepared
to take notes (which means to bring a 3-ring binder and pen
or pencil).
3. Assignments will be posted to this blog, not assigned
in class. Check this blog frequently.
